Self-ish-banner2

The above image has been in the rough stages for a little while as Luke started coming up with the premise for his solo show at Corey Helford Gallery that is opening on October 11th. With the show entitled “Selfish” I can suppose that Luke will be evaluating himself in self-portrait scenarios with his characters that he is frequently incorporating in to his pieces.

“GENESIS: A CELEBRATION OF EMERGING ARTISTS” EVENT

shepard

The Art of Elysium is a cool charity that helps artists, musicians and other creative types give back to their communities by participating in artistic workshops at children’s hospitals and other places with “populations in need.” For years, one of their major fundraising events has been Genesis, a showcase of emerging L.A. talent. Past Genesis shows have always delivered a diverse array of up-and-coming performers. the 2014 Genesis event will take place on Friday, September 5 at the Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles, with L.A.-based emerging musicians, artists, dancers and filmmakers hand-picked by curators Spike Jonze, Karen O, Alex Ebert, Beck, Cat Power, Shepard Fairey, Santigold and Jakob Dylan. The party will start outside the Ace Hotel with a live graffiti artist (curated by Fairey, of course), local artists and food vendors, then move into the theatre for live music by SoKo, Rodrigo Amarante, The Garden, Nite Jewel, Mary Ocher, Moses Sumney, Nico Turner, Vorhees, Aaron Embry, and The Donnies and The Amys, with more to be announced.
