BLDG in partnership with Renaissance Covington and Folk School Coffee Parlor proudly announce 199C: House of Cards on Saturday, April 2, 7-11 p.m. 199C draws its name from the pantone color for the Reds and is a collaborative art experience celebrating two great achievements: Baseball and the Reds.

For the exhibition, BLDG Gallery dug into shoeboxes and rifled through childhood collections of our favorite baseball cards to find the greatest inspiration we could think of, the Reds players themselves. From Johnny Bench to Bronson Arroyo, Dave Parker to Paul O’Neill, we have hand selected our favorite Topps baseball cards to inspire the artists.

The show features 40+ local, regional and nationally based artists who will create artwork based on a curated Reds baseball card they receive from BLDG. There are few places on earth where a sport and team are so beloved by a community and the artists of 199C celebrate this unique atmosphere by uniting two great passions, art and baseball.

The festivities continue outside on Pike Street where our friends from Folk School Coffee Parlor have planned family-friendly entertainment including live music by Willie Tea Taylor and Honey & Houston, a celebrity podcast by Jerry Springer and the Curve Ball Classic Homerun Derby.

It wouldn’t be baseball without food and beer, so we partnered with Renaissance Covington to bring the event to the next level. Braxton Brewing Company will offer up tasty beverages while local Covington restaurants and food trucks will satisfy event attendees after an evening of celebrating America’s favorite pastime.
